Our talented friend Virgil Baruchel is having a solo exhibition at the Stussy store in Toronto. There are only two days left to check out MONARCHIE, so giddy on up mutts and get to it.
Guido Daniele is a painter who work resembles hands shaped like animals. His Handimals series began in 2000 and was brought to our attention by AnOther Mag.
This Valentines Day the babes over at HUNTCLUB presents WITH PLEASURE.
The gallery will feature digital collages by our permanent resident Kathryn Macnaughton. A collector and lover of vintage pornography, Macnaughy will be exhibiting work inspired by classic nakies. For a little spice, they have brought in paintings by Sri Lankan born Rajni Perrera. Her creations feature voluptuous tribal women with an aesthetic that is inspired by texture patterns from around the globe.
FYI both artists approach this show with little censorship so expect a lot of nudity.
Tonight is opening night and gallery goers are invited into PORN FORT, an installation crafted in HUNTCLUB’s basement workshop. A collaboration with the uncarvedblock and Tyler Sammy, the fort encapsulates you in map projections and imagery of the explicit nature.
DJ Filthy Gorgeous will be playing deep sexy music alongside a screening of a A STUDY OF MOVEMENT. Produced by HUNTCLUB, the contemporary dance video features the work of choreographer Vanessa Kimmons.
WITH PLEASURE opens tonight from 6pm - 11pm and if you have other special plans the show runs until March 4th.

About the charities:
Skate4Cancer strives to hype up youth on the importance of cancer prevention and community building. When Skate4Cancer first came to fruition, Rob Dyer was sixteen years old. He had lost a mother, both grandmothers and a best friend to cancer. He had witnessed the people he loved fighting the toughest battles of their lives, and he wanted to redirect his sadness by pushing himself as hard as he could. The idea to skateboard from Los Angeles to Toronto came to him, and he went for it. Skate4Cancer continues to donate all proceeds to hospitals and charities.

GIFTS Foundation is a grassroots charity that our HUNTCLUB family and friends started 10 years ago. Our mandate is to continue to feed, rebuild homes, and educate underprivileged people. Every single cent we have raised in the last 10 years has gone directly to help nourish the lives and minds of the people we help. We are committed to bringing continued support to a rural village in central Vietnam.

Lechuguilla Cave was shown in the BBC documentary series Planet Earth. “Caves” documented a team of scientists and filmmakers exploring Lechuguilla, including the Chandelier Ballroom, where high-quality crystals are found. It took the team two years to get permission to film the cave, and local authorities are unlikely to allow another film crew to enter in the foreseeable future.

Wild Animals by Dutch artist Rop van Mierlo is a collection of his amazing wash paintings of animals. Allowing the inks and watercolours to soak and spread on the paper as it wants to, Mierlo’s animals are wild in their formation, without hard lines or angles to confine them.

Talented local artist Kathryn Macnaughton illustrated a couple of our Spring/Summer 2012 lifestyle shots. If you would like to check out more of her work (including her recent book covers for John Steinbeck) please head over to her website here.
Kathryn is an Illustrator/Graphic Artist currently living in Toronto, Canada. She graduated from Ontario College of Art and Design and has been making pretty pictures ever since.
Can’t believe we missed this, sounds like an amazing collaboration of Torontoians!
Toronto friends! A few good friends recently got together and founded Garrison Creek Bat Company.
To celebrate, they’ve gathered 17 artists together to custom paint bats (included yours truly), which will be exhibited tomorrow night at AWOL gallery (76 Ossington Avenue).
Here’s a little preview of the bat I painted. If you live in Toronto and have some time tomorrow night, it would be amazing to see you out!
(Personally, I can’t wait to see all the bats, but I’m also mega excited for the bat bags made by Robin Akitt - I recently checked out her blog (Ship Island Leather) and she crafts….ridiculously beautiful things.)
#KeithHaring: 1978–1982 on exhibition fromMarch 16–July 8 at the Brooklyn Museum.
The exhibition chronicles the period in Haring’s career from his arrival in New York City through the years when he started his studio practice and began making public and political art on the city streets. Immersing himself in New York’s downtown culture, he quickly became a fixture on the artistic scene, befriending other artists such as Jean-Michel Basquiat and Kenny Scharf, as well as many of the most innovative cultural figures of the period. The critical role that these relationships played in Haring’s development as a public artist and facilitator of group exhibitions and performances is also explored.
Thanks to the Brooklyn Museum for this, you can read more here.
Can’t wait to check this out next time we are in New York! Make sure you follow the Keith Haring Foundation’s tumblr as they will be posting a new page from Keith’s diary every day.
