As the 2012 Olympic Games are underway in London, it is interesting to think about the conflicting message the games maybe sending. The purpose of the Olympics is to encourage physical activity, promote healthy living, and inspire the next generation to exercise. However, in having the major sponsors of the Games as McDonald’s and Coca-Cola, this sends another message entirely. Their ad campaigns exhibiting professional athletes eating junk food hardly seem realistic, or a good example of the younger generation they are trying to inspire.
