We gotta home run with this one…

There are still some Grungy Gentleman x Muttonhead collab crews available. These french terry sweatshirts are reversible with different prints on each side, because two is always better than one.

We really enjoyed this video on Outlier by HypeBeast. Not only is one of the designers Canadian but these guys knit, sounds like our kinda cats.

All Outlier products are made in New York and their philosophy is that

Clothing should be liberating. What you put on in the morning should never restrict what you do with your day. We make garments that dance around the boundaries of fashion using a function driven design process and high quality technical fabrics.”

Not only does Patti Smith have a special fondness for Michael Pitt but for her love of mutts (well kitties) is well known too, sounds like our kinda gal!
Here she is photographed by Frank Stefanko in the mid-70s in her apartment in Manhattan’s Lower East Side. “The cat wandered into the composition and took up position on the window ledge. It appeared to me that the cat was standing guard, hence the photograph is titled ‘The Lookout’.” - Stefanko

The latest issue of AnOther Man features hot babe Michael Pitt, photographed on the cover by Hedi Slimane and interviewed by Patti Smith (the second photo is Smith’s polaroid of Pitt) what a combo! Can’t wait to get our hands on it…

But who best to extract the best from this shy and complex character for the cover story? The answer was always the high priestess of punk, Patti Smith. She is friends with Pitt and the two have admired each other’s work for a long time – they even performed on stage together one night during Paris’s Nuit Blanche cultural festival. There is a mysterious bond between the pair, a simpatico; Smith even admits that Pitt’s girlfriend Jamie Bochert “somewhat resembles my younger self”.

And so one Sunday afternoon in New York, as Hurricane Irene began her assault on the East Coast, Pitt – on a rare day off from filming the new season of Boardwalk Empire – made his way through a biblical storm towards the legendary Electric Lady Studios, where Smith was holed up working on new material. Pitt arrived with presents. Smith had her trusty Polaroid camera and tape recorder at the ready…

Something unexpected and magical happened that day. When Smith listened back to the audiotape, their conversation wasn’t there. “I had left the machine on pause,” she laughs. “I remembered the red light flashing, but it was a warning, not a recording.” With the encounter fresh in her mind, she took herself off to her favourite café, ordered some coffee and starting scrawling her memories in her notebook. What emerged is a personal and revealing study of Pitt. “Ultimately I realised that the most important thing that went down was never on tape anyway.”

#KeithHaring: 1978–1982 on exhibition fromMarch 16–July 8 at the Brooklyn Museum.
The exhibition chronicles the period in Haring’s career from his arrival in New York City through the years when he started his studio practice and began making public and political art on the city streets. Immersing himself in New York’s downtown culture, he quickly became a fixture on the artistic scene, befriending other artists such as Jean-Michel Basquiat and Kenny Scharf, as well as many of the most innovative cultural figures of the period. The critical role that these relationships played in Haring’s development as a public artist and facilitator of group exhibitions and performances is also explored.
Thanks to the Brooklyn Museum for this, you can read more here.
Can’t wait to check this out next time we are in New York! Make sure you follow the Keith Haring Foundation’s tumblr as they will be posting a new page from Keith’s diary every day.

I love these photo’s by our friend and Vancouverite Erin Simkin… Check out her blog post below on the hilarious comedy duo Josh Saltzman & Lindsay Ames.

‘They recently won a Canadian Comedy Award and are constantly featured on Funny or Die. Lindsay also has a great blog called Gut Feelings where she blogs about her favorite restaurants, meals & recipes. We were very lucky to get to shoot in the newly opened bar Cold Tea and the owners could not have been more accommodating. I always have a great time working with these two. Can’t wait to see what they do next!’

I am also itching to check out Cold Tea, a new Kensington establishment that is inspired by Manhattan’s bar scene and which prides itself on found locations and secret snacks. This new speakeasy type bar is hidden at the back of Kensington Mall (through a secret doorway) and has everything from cheap(ish) beers, signature cocktails and dim sum… YUM!
