Langton Willms is taking the shopping local concept to the next level. The former store developer for Aritzia has stocked his new menswear shop, Gerhard (2949 Dundas West), with handsome labels that trace their origins not just to Toronto, but to the streets around the store’s Junction neighbourhood.
“We as consumers like to be able to buy ever-greater quantities of ever-cheaper goods, every year,” said Richard M. Locke, deputy dean of the M.I.T. Sloan School of Management. “Somebody is bearing the cost of it, and we don’t want to know about it. The people bearing the cost were in this fire.”

Last week we had an opportunity to check out the Wefi Surfboards workshop, an amazing place on Vancouver Island where they are handcrafting hollow cedar surfboards. Not only are these boards a million times more sustainable than foam boards but there is also the added benefit of experiencing more feeling and vibration in your ride. If you wanna test out your DIY skills you can even go and make your own surfboard at Randy’s shop. Just check out the Orca board in the second photos for some west coast inspiration.
