You can follow their journey cycling across Canada on both their tumblr and facebook page. These girls are raising money to donate to underprivileged children so they too can participate in extracurricular sports.
Please come show your support by cycling with them as they ride through your town, or just come out and cheer them on. Because let’s be honest, it is a pretty serious achievement to cycle across one of the physically largest countries in the world!
We just stumbled across some Instagram pic’s from the ‘Toast to the Coast’ event that took place in Vancouver. At this year’s annual event, the Vancouver Aquarium played host to a night of food, wine, music and shopping. We donated two pieces from the Muttonhead fall/winter 2011 collection to the event. In one night they raised $350,000 for the sea creatures!
Check out des mutts (our creative team) hiding behind the donation jar!
odysseyforopportunity: A couple members of the OFO team headed to the ‘Camping out on Crawford’ pop up shop a few weekends ago. Our new goal is to fill the jar!
WHY: All money raised will go to ‘Grounds for Health’ an organization committed to working with women in the coffee producing communities of Mexico, Nicaragua and Tanzania. These funds will be put towards helping spread cervical cancer awareness, as well as providing screening and prevention procedures. Grounds for Health’s award winning work is not only saving the lives of hundreds of women every year (from a prevalent yet easy to detect/treat) form of cancer, but it is also helping to reshape the way gender equality is looked upon in these communities.
Last year they raised almost $8,000 so make sure you swing by and bid (lots of $$$) on the Muttonhead cup! Oh and if all that doesn’t bring you out of your cozy little homes in mid December then at least come for the booze, tunes and pay-what-you-can beans from Reunion Island Coffee.
